JD Majethia's Khichdi series has been one of our favourite since its inception. The hilarious serial about a Gujarati family has won hearts across the globe. After the success of Khichdi and Instant Khichdi, a spin off movie, Khichdi: The Movie was also made. However, since then, everyone has been waiting for the series to be make a comeback. And that's what has happened! Khichdi season 3 is back after more than a decade and we can't keep calm. From what we had heard, the show will have a new track, but the same old cast. Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Vandana Pathak, Anang Desai and JD Majethia reprise their roles, while Ratna Pathak Shah and Renuka Shahane are new additions. What's it about?

Khichdi season 3 revolves around the Parekh family's woes after a builder cons them. The family featuring Babuji a.k.a Tulsidas Parekh (Anang Desai), Praful Parekh (Rajeev Mehta), Hansa Parekh (Supriya Pathak), Jayshree Parekh (Vandana Pathak) and Himanshu Seth (JD Majethia) is being threatened by angry people who had invested their money in a housing project started by them. However, after the fraud builder conned them and ran away, the family has nothing to do but face the consequences. From angry people beating them up to a don giving them threats and kidnapping Hansa, the Parekh family is deep in trouble. In fact, their own house does not have walls or a ceiling too. But even though they are being tested, they don't lose hope and be their own selves. How will they get out of this mess? And what mess will they create? What's Hot?

The Parekh family and the Khichdi series always makes us go down memory lane and makes us nostalgic. The family drama also makes us realise how important our families are and even though we constantly bicker and fight with our family members, they love us and will always be there for us. These emotions with the fact that the show has a really new and interesting storyline has us excited. The jokes, puns and dialogues are hilarious and it made us laugh out loud. And even though Khichdi is coming back after such a long gap, the actors have not lost touch. The continuity is maintained and the trademark dialogues like 'Chai leke aa rahi hai, ki bahar se mangaun?,' 'Main hu na, main samjhata hu' and several others felt nice to see and hear. The performances by the actors are spot on and we have to say the show was visually appealing too and has been executed well. And as always, Hansa and Praful always make us crack up. What's Not!

Khichdi season 3 has been introduced during the Indian T20 tournament season and that to in the 8 pm slot, when the big matches take place. This makes it very difficult for people to enjoy the show and the cricket match. Also the fact that the episode is one hour long might get tedious later on. The epsiode should have been crisper and not more than 30 minutes long! Some jokes are old and they might not connect with gen-next too. Some scenes were made over dramatic too and that could have been avoided. But apart from all this, we have no complaints. What to do?

Well we loved the first episode and we are sure with an interesting plot, Khichdi season 3 will not only be entertaining to watch, but it will also make you ROFL. The family drama will also give out some lessons! So watch Khichdi every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm only on Star Plus!

After the revival of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Hats Off Productions have also brought back. The first two episodes have been aired and are now out on Hostar. We watched the episodes and absolutely loved them albeit with a few complaints, which we will get to later.

Right after the first episode, tweets singing praises of the show, started flooding in. The jokes from the episode are already trending and we are sure a few memes are on the way. But apart from heavy machinery jokes and running gags, the first episode was also high on certain hidden jokes that you might have missed. Well, in 2002, the first line of the first episode of the first season was 'Deewaron Ke Bhi Kaan Hota Hain.' #When Praful, Babuji and Himanshu look for Hansa in the Gents Toilet, this is what the signboard reads!

#In the saree shop, the signboards read 'Sleeveless sarees available' and 'Saree Kheenchna mana hai' #How Khichdi made a smart commentary about how only a fool can be a Liverpool fan! #Check out the air conditioner constructed to match the needs of the Parekh residence, which in case you haven't watched the show, is completely hilarious! #The bank is called the Coconut Tree Bank, and the tagline is, 'We have no branches.' #Also, apart from Housing loan the bank also provides chana-sing loan. 'Sing' means peanuts in Marathi. The second episode was amusing as well.

Khichdi Season 3 is out and it’s full-on entertainment again. The show’s latest season premiered on April 14, and we bring you our review of the first weekend: Prafullll.Hansaaa. Babujiii. Like its previous seasons, the show revolves around the antics of Babuji a.k.a. Tulsidas Parekh (Anang Desai), Praful (Rajeev Mehta), Hansa (Supriya Pathak), gossip-queen Jayshree (Vandana Pathak) and Himanshu (JD Majethia). Their lives are not exactly all ha ha hee hee – they have been conned by a builder, and left with an unfinished house minus walls and windows.

What’s more, they are being threatened by people who had invested in the housing project started by them, and are now feeling duped. The banter between the characters is spot-on. There’s Bapu Ji’s regular line, “Jayshree, chai la rahi ho ya bahar se mangwaon?” and Praful teaching Hansa ‘English’ words in his funny way. The Parekh family has you chuckling at its looting of the bank and their gushing over Himanshu’s disastrous painting talent. The Parekhs are blessed with the knack of laughing over even life’s tragediessomething many of us wish we could do! Added to the original cast is Renuka Shahane, whose inclusion is a happy surprise.

Even though the show drags in parts, it is entertaining and a refreshing watch. Rajeev Mehta who essays Praful is a huge fan of his show, declaring, “ Khichdi is a benchmark, a cult and the only television show that can be stated as a ‘comedy series’.” He feels no other show can come close to the standards set by ‘Khichdi’ which is why he feels blessed to be a part of it. He believes the USP of the show is the script. “Aatish (Kapadia) has done a wonderful job and that has strengthened the entire show. Also the characters, the beauty of it being that each one has its own traits, a different charm.
